Things to do

  • Cape Woolamai Walk and the Pinnacles

One of Cape Woolamai’s most famous attractions is the Pinnacles, which can be seen along the Cape Woolamai Walk. The Pinnacles are a natural landscape of granite pillars that rise from the blue water.

The walk is about 8 kilometres long and can take up to 4 hours to complete. Alternatively, you can opt for the Pinnacles Walk, which takes about 2 hours and leads to a lookout to view the stunning Pinnacles.

Along the Cape Woolamai Walk, you will not only see the Pinnacles but also reach the highest point on Phillip Island. You will have views across the island, Kilcunda, San Remo, and beyond.

The Pinnacles on Phillip Island

  • Cape Woolamai Beach

One of Victoria’s best surf breaks, Cape Woolamai Beach offers incredible waves for experienced surfers to tackle. If that is not you, stick to the beach and watch the pros do what they do best.

Aside from surfing and watching the surfers, you can explore the golden sand beach or take a dip in the warm, shallow waters.

  • Eateries

Whether you are after a filling breakfast, lunch, or dinner, there are plenty of options to choose from at Cape Woolamai. For a family-friendly spot, the Wooli Tavern is the place to go, or you can check out Bang Bang Bar and Restaurant. For great coffee and all-day breakfast, Burnt Toast is the best café to visit.

  • See the short-tailed shearwaters

The shearwater birds migrate to Phillip Island from the Aleutian Islands (near Alaska), covering 16,000-kilometres! The best spot to watch a million shearwaters is at Cape Woolamai’s main car park.

The shearwaters return to the island around 24 September, and they lay their eggs at the end of November. The eggs hatch around mid-January before the birds prepare for their journey back to the Aleutian Islands by mid-April.
