What’s better than wine? Wine with your dog. The rural views can be enjoyed with your dog by your feet and a glass of wine in your hand! Gather your mates to enjoy some live music in the afternoon sunshine. Snack on some delicious food (don’t forget to give some to your dog. You can’t ignore puppy dog eyes).
Purple Hen Winery
Sip back and soak up the views of the water in this classic winery! This wine is situated adjacent to a quiet sealed road. Next to a beautiful farm and a coastal view, the Purple Hen is a winery that is very dog-friendly.
What about beaches?
Dog-Friendly Beaches of Phillip Island
Ventnor Beach
A popular spot for those letting their dogs off lead, Ventnor Beach is the best dog-friendly beach on Phillip Island! One of the best beaches for a quiet swim, this is a locals’ beach that lets your pup run wild in the calm waves, while you catch the view of the Mornington Peninsula.
Cape Woolamai
Go to the road area between Palm Beach Avenue and Southport Avenue, and you’ll find this area where you can let your dog off-leash! However, during the Christmas and Easter holidays, your dog must be kept on-leash.
Being aware
While there might not be heaps of wild house cats roaming around Phillip Island, there are hooded plovers at most times of the year (the hooded plover is a species of bird native to Phillip Island).
The hooded plovers of Phillip Island are an endangered species. Be aware that your dog may try and chase them! There are bright yellow signs dotted around the island to signify plover-populated areas. In these areas, be aware – dogs might not be allowed, or you might have to keep them on a lead.
