Walk along the cliff tops on the southeast of Phillip Island to get magnificent views of the coast and island.

Cape Woolamai is a town in the southeast of Phillip Island. The town is known for the Cape Woolamai walk, the coastal views, and the beach. Cape Woolamai walk is 8.5 kilometres which can take about three and a half hours to complete. This walk will give you incredible views of Phillip Island and the coastline of Cape Woolamai.

You start the walk at the information shelter before walking down the wooden ramp to the beach. Walk southeast along the beach for about 700 metres until you see a wooden staircase. When you walk up the stairs, you’ll be directed by a sign to go right. Walk down the dirt trail where you look out over Woolamai Beach. You’ll then come to a junction, but just keep right and continue to follow the green and black arrows. You will be able to see Woolamai Surf Beach and Phillip Island’s south coast. Further down you will see some incredible rock formations on the cliffs below. Follow the black arrows to eventually reach the Cape Woolamai Beacon. This area is the highest point on Phillip Island.

Once you’ve reached the highest point, walk down through the low grasses towards the trees. When you get to the Old Granite Quarry, stay to the right to eventually walk along the coast of the beach. after roughly four kilometres, you walk back to cape Woolamai. Walk inland along the east coast and down a slight slope to reach a wooden platform. This platform overlooks the east and the ocean. Soon you will see a sign between the trees near the wooden stairs. Follow that down to the beach to visit the Old Granite Quarry. Then walk north, up the beach until you reach a steep slope. Keep walking until you see a trail post, turn left and walk inland to walk back to the car park.
