There are many places to spot views on Phillip Island!
The Nobbies
The Nobbies is the name given to a set of ‘cobblestone’ rocks which dramatically poke out through the sea, into a big dome shape.
Plenty of coastal walks around the Nobbies offer some great photo opportunities of these unique rocks.
You’ll be very close to Seal Rock Lookout too, where you can marvel at some 12000 seals basking on the shore’s side.
For an even closer look at the seals close up, check out the Nobbies Centre – where you can watch the seals through a live camera. Some very inconspicuous trail camera technology has allowed the Centre to watch the seals live in action as they go about their daily life.
Pyramid Rock
This viewpoint is located on the Southern coast of Phillip Island. It is a must-see if you’re looking for a good view of the island.
Early risers and sunset lovers should visit this spot as it offers a great view of the whole Bass Strait – and it’s even more dramatic at sunrise/sunset.
It’s one of the best places on the island for a view. This area of Phillip Island is a must-see, especially if you’re after a memorable lookout point. There are great photo opportunities! Pyramid Rock is perfect for wildlife spotting. Soak up the beauty of the natural environment and bring your binoculars!
The Pinnacles Lookout
For a coastal walk with an interesting view of jagged rocks that jut out of the sea, check out the Pinnacles lookout! This unique view has plenty of character.
Walk the Cape Woolamai Circuit Walk to catch a view of the Pinnacles.
There are slightly shorter walks around the area that you can do too. Or if you’re just after the view itself, simply park up at the lookout point to get a photo without the hike.
This curved coastline forms a natural inlet full of water. Visitors frequently spot native wildlife such as kangaroos, wallabies and various seabirds. The sunsets here are incredible, painting the sky with a palette of warm, blended pastel colours.
It’s a great place to see the sunset, although there are plenty of places to view the sunset on Phillip Island!
The Beacon at Cape Woolamai
Take a trek to the Philip Island Lighthouse at the Beacon on Cape Woolamai. You’ll get a stunning panoramic view of the Bass Coast from the top!
The Beacon Loop is a 7km return hike but it’s completely worth the incline. Venture up to Philip Island’s highest point! You’ll even see Wilson’s Promontory on a good clear day.
Penguin Parade viewing platform
Watch the daily penguin parade at the viewing platform next to Summerlands Lookout. This is a must-do while you’re in Philip Island. For a full view of these cute little penguins, grab yourself a ticket to the penguin parade!
Don’t have the means to get there? Book yourself onto a tour to see the penguin parade with Melbourne pickups!
